A minimum GPA of 75 is required. Up to 20 points will be awarded as follows:

MAP, ACP’s or other DISD approved assessments
A minimum score of 40% on norm referenced tests
(MAP, ITBS, Terra Nova, Stanford9, ect) is required.
Up to 30 points will be awarded as follows:

📝 Onsite Essay (Up to 30 points)

Type: Expository essay (informational/explanatory — you explain a topic or idea clearly).

Prompt Style: Inspired by 6th-grade STAAR Writing prompts (e.g., “Explain why it’s important to help others,” or “Describe how challenges can make you stronger”).

Scoring: Based on the 6th-grade STAAR Writing Rubric, which usually evaluates:

Organization and Focus: Clear central idea, logical structure, strong introduction/conclusion.

Development of Ideas: Relevant examples, explanations, and details.

Language and Conventions: Word choice, sentence variety, grammar, punctuation, spelling.

Tips to Prepare:

Practice writing 1–2 page expository essays in 30–45 minutes.

Focus on clear thesis statements and strong supporting examples.

Review STAAR writing samples to understand the expectations.

💬 Onsite Interview (Up to 25 points)

Purpose: To identify academically oriented, focused, driven, and thoughtful students who are a good fit for the school’s model.

Why you want to attend the school.

Examples of leadership, creativity, or curiosity.
